APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Applicants must ensure that their applications reach the Department before the closing date. Late submissions will not be accepted. Submitting duplicate applications is discouraged. Applicants interested in more than one position must complete and submit a separate application for every post. Owing to the anticipated high volume of applications, receipt of applications will not be acknowledged.

Applicants who have not received communication from the Department within three months after the closing date should regard their applications as unsuccessful. The Department reserves the right to withdraw a recruitment process and advertise the position again in the future if a moratorium is introduced on appointments or if restructuring, reorganisation or any related process affects the posts.

Each application must contain a properly completed and signed new Z83 application form, available from any public service department or through the Department of Public Service and Administration website at https://www.dpsa.gov.za/newsroom/psvc/, together with a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae. Documents must be submitted according to the relevant application procedure. Only the completed Z83 form and detailed CV should be included at the initial application stage.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development accepts no responsibility for delays caused by server or system-related problems when applicants use the electronic recruitment platform.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to provide certified copies of their identity documents, Grade 12 certificates, highest relevant qualifications, proof of professional registration where applicable, and driver’s licences. These documents must be submitted to Human Resources on or before the interview date. Failure to provide the required documentation may lead to disqualification.

Applicants holding qualifications obtained outside South Africa must arrange for an evaluation by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Proof of the evaluation report must be provided when requested at the shortlisting stage.

All shortlisted applicants must complete two pre-entry assessments. These consist of a practical evaluation and an integrity assessment relating to ethical conduct. The selection panel will consider the results of both assessments alongside the interview when evaluating applicants’ technical competence, general capabilities and suitability for the position.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND AFFIRMATIVE ACTION

PDARD is committed to equal employment opportunities and affirmative action. The Department seeks to improve workforce representation through its recruitment and appointment processes. It also reserves the right not to appoint a candidate to an advertised vacancy.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), PDARD undertakes to handle applicants’ personal information confidentially and to use it for recruitment and selection purposes.

By submitting an application, candidates consent to the collection, processing, verification and storage of their personal information for recruitment-related activities. This may include sharing relevant information with third parties to verify qualifications, credit history, criminal records and other information required for the selection process.

The Department is committed to protecting applicants’ privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of their information throughout the recruitment process.

INTERVIEWS, SCREENING AND APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS

Shortlisted candidates must be available to attend assessments and interviews on the dates and at the times determined by the Department.

All shortlisted applicants will undergo personnel suitability screening. The preferred candidate will also be required to complete the necessary security vetting procedures. Reference checks may be conducted and may include reviewing shortlisted candidates’ social media profiles.

Applicants must disclose any pending criminal matters, disciplinary proceedings, allegations or investigations involving them. If relevant information is discovered during or after the interview process, the application may be rejected. If the individual has already been appointed, the appointment may be terminated.

The successful applicant will be expected to sign an employment contract and enter into a performance agreement with the Department.

All candidates must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest, including membership of boards and any directorships with which they are associated.
